Because of its location, Saat square metro station has a special situation. Closeness to municipality buildings and other architectural valuable neighbors has a great impact on the design process of entrance buildings. These entrances are going to be built on the remaining vacant lands of destructed valuable old buildings, so we decided to make monuments to shape the soul of that demolished constructions. The material of these monuments is woven meshes. These meshes are woven from a special pattern designed for this project, inspired by the traditional art of Tabriz: carpet weaving.
The other element that we used in the interior design of the station affected by its location in Saat (clock) square, is clock and time. Sporadic elements relating to clocks in different interior spaces are parts of an installation with the concept of time. The Interior theme of station levels has been designed with a historical hierarchy. People will enter the station from a historical context and reach the platform level with a digital atmosphere. This hierarchy also relates to the flow speed of the crowd. The gears sculpture in the gallery level moves softly and invites the crowd to slow down their pace and roam in the gallery level which provides some installations, introducing Tabriz history and culture. And the dynamic LED surfaces of the platform level with moving texts and important times, will give some information and keep pace with people’s flow.
